My Blogging Routine

16/04/2017

How do you manage to blog so regularly?
This is offten question I get.
My ansver is quite simple.
Because I enjoy blogging and I have routine to help me stay organized. And still having some sort of life. 🙂

In this post, I share my blogging routine and hope this inspire you to create your own routine that will help you stay on track with your blog.

Brainstorm

Every now and then I decide to brainstorm. This means that I take some time for a little Googling and get some new posts ideas. I check the keywords through which visitors come to my blog, I also check comments on my blog and I try to remember the questions I get in my business – often there I get some great ideas. Then I write everything down in Meistertask.

Planning

When a new month starts its time to plan post for the whole month. For planning, I use my printable monthly tracker that my subscribers get every month (more). Although I have prepared a plan of my blog post for a month in advance I often change them when I start to prepare theme.

Write

I write and create a new blog post in several parts. First I google, check and educate myself a little bit more about a new subject. Then I prepare a draft. And write.
Write…
Write…
Once the text is ready, I read it one more time, try to proofread it and check grammar.
I also prepare translation (Slovenian/English)

Photograph, graphics

Order of writing and photography can be changed. Depends on the blog post I try to create my own photos or graphics. But sometimes I also find some great stock photos and use them in my blog post instead.

Edit, SEO

I check my blog post how it looks and edits it if needed. I also optimize it for Google (keywords, description, image titles and alt)… And when I’m satisfied with the blog, I schedule it.

Email

For every blog post, I also prepare an email.
I prepare contents.
Photo.
And schedule it.

“Promotion”

After sending email, I also notify my Facebook friends, publish a notification on G+, Pinterest and sometimes on Twitter and Instagram.

One of the questions I often get is also how much time I spend to prepare a new blog post. It depends on a post and my inspiration. 🙂 But for e.g. Sunday’s post I spend:
Brainstorm: monthly 2 hours
Planning: 1 hour
Write: 2 – 5 hours
Photograph, graphics: 1 – 3 hours
Edit, SEO – 30min
Email – 15min
Promotion – 15min

4 – 9 hours altogether per blog post (Slovenian and English). Quite a lot of time, but if you divide it by days (especially writing) is much easier.

Do you have a routine for your blog? I’d love to hear all about them below!

Great to hear what you’re doing! I need to write down my procedure, too, just so it’s in my own head as a sort of checklist for future posts. Thanks for taking the time to put it down on “paper”, and share it with us!

Interesting! Our timelines are very similar, but I tend to spend a lot more time on promotion. I’m a believer in the 80/20 rule – 20% of my time is spent on creation, 80% is spent on promoting. I’m very glad I’m not doing my blog in two languages though! I don’t know how I’d find the time! 😀

80/20 rule seems a great idea. I should do it more often! 🙂 Especially because so much time goes to create a new blog post.. it is worth to promote it a little bit more. Thank you!

Great overview of your blogging process, thanks so much for sharing. I often find that the SEO, Email, and promotion are the pieces missing for most people, but they don’t need to become big time-consuming drains to help you get the word out. Plus they’re so important to keeping your blog alive!
