Just as we have different formulas in maths, there is also a formula for a good home page.
Hehe, yeah … math has always been one of my favorite classes in school.
Today, instead of math, I will share this formula with you. But this formula has different variables for each individual page. Therefore, the formula is fine to use but should be customized to your needs.
The formula for the basic parts of the home page:
1 | Slogan
As soon as someone lands on your website it is important to know what to expect – as soon as possible. Share at least some information about what you do/offer. The easiest way is to have some kind of slogan or a picture where you say clearly and loudly what’s here for the visitor.
2 | Services, products
Introduce your services or. products. If you have a lot of products/services, try to guide the visitor to get to the most ideal service or product step by step.
Maybe you can even expose something that is currently hot (e.g. if you have an online supplement store, now is a good time to tell more and offer vitamin C). Remember that a website is a living thing, so it’s nice to update that part regularly.
3 | Testimonials
Share good customer testimonials. With bold text, highlight the part that solved the customer’s problem, or the juicy part of the testimonial. Ideally, you should also add a picture and the name of the client from the testimonial.
4 | Freebie, lead
Don’t forget to share your amazing freebie or another free offer with which you build your mailing list. Of course, it is important that this “lead” is high quality and meaningful for your business.
5 | Introduction
Introduce yourself so that the visitor gets to know you immediately. Share an interesting fact about yourself or your team. Then offer to read more.
Of course, this intro is not necessary in written words, if you are more courageous, you can record a video, or create a fun gif!
These are the five basic parts that are important to incorporate into a homepage. Of course, these parts can be adapted both in order and content according to the individual business.
