If you are considering a website and wondering what the investment will be and what the cost will be with a new website, then this post is for you to help clear up some of the frequently asked questions.
For businesses, I always advise a website with domain and hosting, so the explanations below are primarily for those – website owners.
I could split the costs into urgent and extra costs…
Necessary Website Expenses
Domain
This is the name that your website will have. E.g. mine is mod.si. Domain prices vary – depending on the provider and the domain you want. The domain is usually paid annually.
Hosting
Hosting is the place where your website will live. Also, the price depends on the package and the hosting provider. The hosting is usually paid annually.
Extra Website Expenses
These are costs that you may not think of, but I have put them in one place and you can also avoid them – can take care of these things yourself or get help.
Design and development
You can design and create your website yourself or hire a professional to build a website for you.
SEO Optimization
The same is for SEO (search engine optimization), you can either optimize the website yourself or hire additional help.
If you want to do this yourself and need more knowledge, then those online courses will help you:

Maintenance ( backups, updates)
I strongly recommend that you regularly keep up with your site’s backups and updates. At least monthly or more often if e.g. you often post new content.
Editing the Website
You can edit your website by yourself or hire help.

Photos
For new content you usually also need photos – you can buy them or hire a photographer and this can be an additional expense.
Copywriting
If you get the help that helps you write content, this can be another additional expense.
Those are some of the costs you can expect with a website but is often more a business investment as an expense.
