Tell us a little bit about yourself…
I’ve always had an interest in anything creative, whether that was doing makeup, photography, woodworking, or music. Since I was ten, I’ve been drawing, mostly graphite sketches, but I got into watercolor a few years ago, and I absolutely love it!
When I’m not painting or making a mess, you’ll find me playing the guitar or piano, drinking coffee, playing volleyball, or hanging out with my family.
What inspired your career?
My love for watercolor and creating definitely got me started on this path. Friends started asking me to paint portraits for them, and the more I painted, the more I realized my love for painting.
What does your day look like? Walk us through your typical day…
Right now, my “regular job” is being a barista at a coffee shop, as I am not full time on my art business right now. At the coffee shop, I also get to create art, in people’s coffee! I paint after I get home from that.
What is your favorite failure that sets you up for later success?
When I first started out painting people, I tried so hard to do the faces. I absolutely could not get it to look good, so I ended up with the faceless look. Now it’s super in! I’ve practiced since then, and I’m definitely improving, however, I still love the faceless look.
When you feel unfocused or not motivated what do you do?
Put on some music, or a podcast…sometimes, even when I’m not motivated I force myself to do what needs to be done, and the motivation comes later.
If you could send a mini message to all people, what would it be?
It would probably be: never give up (on good things).
Never give up.
What advice would you give to someone starting a business journey?
