Pomodoro technique Will Boost Your Productivity

25/10/2015

Pomodoro technique doesn’t have a lot in common with tomatoes, this technique is just named after “pomodoro” kitchen timer. It is a time management philosophy that boost productivity and provide the users with maximum focus. The technique uses a timer to break down work into intervals 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. It is also known as 25/5 technique (25min work and 5min break).
The process is simple and free! You work for 25 minutes, then take a break for five minutes to do something not work-related (eg make coffee, check Twitter, Instagram…). These intervals are known as “pomodoros”. After four “pomodoros” have passed, you then take a 15-20 minute break.

How it works (in steps):

  1. Choose a task you’d like to get done.
  2. Set the timer for 25 minutes.
  3. Work on the task until the timer rings (without distraction like Instagram or Twitter)
  4. Take a short break and do something not work-related.
  5. Every 4 pomodoros take a longer break.

How I use this technique?

In the morning, when I plan my day I also write down how much time I think  I will need to do a single task. Then I schedule when I will do them. If a task is smaller and can be done in less than 25min, I group more of them and do them in one pomodoro cycle.

This technique is really simple, free and so effective. First I read about it and I didn’t think it can be so effective. So I try it and was blown away. In 25min can be sooo much done and on the other hand 25min is not so much time. If you want to be more productive I highly recommended to you.

You can use simple timer on your phone, or find special app or even use simple online Tomato Timer. More about techniques you can read on their official page Pomodoto Technique.
